Pictured at left (courtesy of the Detroit Free Press) is Sharon Nichols who, along with Terri Sutton, is on trial this week for willful neglect of duty in a case where both Detroit 911 dispatchers allegedly dismissed a call from a 5 year old as a prank.
The 5 year old, Robert Turner, was calling 911 to report that his mother had collapsed. Robert's mother later died from an enlarged heart and Robert was found in his residence with his mother by a Detroit Police Officer who was dispatched to check on situation.
Sharon Nichols, 44, a city worker for 18 years, and Terri Sutton, 48, a
seven-year employee are charged with a misdemeanor offense and face up to a year in jail or a fine of up to
$1,000 if convicted.
