The use of this and all DSAM sponsored websites constitutes agreement with the following terms and conditions:

     *      DSAM-MI.org and other DSAM websites are provided by the Executive Board to the membership and the public as a resource. The content presented on these sites is for informational purposes only. In general, DSAM does permit users of this site to copy information and materials found here for their own personal, non-commercial use, without any right to redistribute, compile or create derivative works from that information or materials. In some circumstances the licensing of specific content can be separate from these general guidelines. Notice will be posted on the page that holds that content.

*      Unless expressly stated otherwise, the information, opinions, findings and interpretations found in user generated content and news articles do not represent the views of DSAM or its Executive Board members.

 

EDITORIAL RIGHTS

The guiding principle of all our websites will be to honor and uphold The Deputy Sheriff's Association of Michigan. Based upon that guiding principle, DSAM reserves editorial rights to all content on DSAM websites including those posted by visitors, members, writers and Executive Board members.

 

USER GENERATED CONTENT AND FORUMS

 DSAM-MI.org and other DSAM sponsored sites have been created to allow user generated content including discussion forums, content commentary, file and picture uploads, and other features where users have the ability to interact directly with each other, DSAM leadership and the public. The following rules will be enforced on all DSAM sites, but these should not be seen as the sole source in the decision as to what content is appropriate as any content must fall within the guiding principle as outlined in the editorial rights section, and DSAM does reserve its editorial rights over user generated content as well.

 

*      Respectfulness - Discussion and debate is encouraged, but respect for other persons including their views, time and opinions, political affiliations, sexual orientation and race will be maintained at all times. Personal attacks, attacks against DSAM, or attacks against the Corrections, Law Enforcement or Emergency Dispatch professions will not be tolerated.

*      Solicitation - Other than in the classifieds section of the forum, solicitation of any product, service, website or association is discouraged unless the particular item is directly relevant to the conversation. Members are allowed a short link to their site in their forum signature.

*      Prohibited Content - DSAM prohibits the use of vulgar or profane content in items contributed by users. Prohibited content includes, but not limited to, vulgar or profane language, pornography, racial or sexual slurs.

*      Disruption - Contributors and users will refrain from posts that intend to disrupt the topic of conversation by steering the topic away from the intended purpose of the article or original poster, harassing other users, multiple posting of the same post, or posting completely off topic messages.

*      Registration and Posting- Contributors and users to any DSAM site are allowed a single registration or login to post from. Posting under multiple logins, repeatedly posting or spamming will not be tolerated.

*      Copyrighted Material - Users and contributors may post links and portions of materials (appropriate fair use). Posting articles or other copyrighted materials in their entirety is a violation of U.S. copyright law and the rules of all DSAM sites.

*      Hacking or Distribution of malicious software - Users of DSAM sites are prohibited from hacking such as attempting to guess other users passwords. Users are also prohibited from distributing software that is malicious by nature or contains malicious components. Violation of this rule may result in that user's immediate and permanent ban from any and all DSAM sites.

 

DSAM reserves the editorial right to remove any content at any time for violation of any of these rules or violation of our guiding principle. DSAM also reserves the right to change these rules as needed and remove any user, or ban/restrict any user for a period of time from any or all DSAM sites for violation of these rules or our guiding principle.
